A Sunset Opportunity
f5.6 at 1/320 0eV 72mm (432 mm equivalent) 2816 x 2112 Canon S3

Essence: I carry my camera pretty much everywhere I go so I have the opportunity to take pictures of interesting and unique things. In this case I was stuck in traffic with nothing to do but watch the sun set behind and to the left of me. But how to get a picture? Since I was watching the sun set in the side mirror, it seemed like a good idea to take the picture in the side mirror. By zooming all the way in I could remove most of the unwanted parts of the scene, just leaving the wires across the top present.
Here is a different view of the scene. Not so interesting:

Accident: The cars across the bottom of the final image make for an interesting horizon. They are clearly occupied, so what are they doing there? As can be seen from the image above, they are crossing an overpass. I thought it was a good, colorful sunset, but the amount of orange in the final image was a nice surprise. The camera metered the exposure just right.
Vanity: The final image is only slightly modified from the original. I added some saturation to bring it up to 1.05 and cropped it down to 2816 x 1707 to cut out the overhead wires.
Final image:

The distortion from the side mirror gave the cars a cartoonish look that is not visible on these small reproductions. At 100% you can see it:
